Skylon Tower: Tickets, Observation Deck and Dining
Skylon Tower from C$18 per adult online before tax (October 2026): deck or dinner, day or night, and when eating upstairs beats buying the ride.
From the Skylon Tower’s deck, the Horseshoe, the American Falls and Bridal Veil fit into one frame. If you can only go up once, go at dusk. A Ride to the Top ticket cost C$18 per adult (13 and over) and C$9 per child (4 to 12) on Skylon’s own website when we checked on 3 October 2026, with tax added at checkout, and that day the tower’s posted hours ran from 9 am to 11 pm, until midnight on Saturdays. That’s roughly US$13 or £10 for a view from 775 feet above the gorge.
Ticket or dinner? A meal in the Revolving Dining Room includes the elevator, but only when everyone at the table orders a main course, so the C$18 ride and a dinner upstairs are two ways to buy the same view. After dark, what you get depends on the date: the falls are floodlit from dusk every evening, fireworks go up nightly at 10 pm until Monday, 12 October 2026, and the next run comes with the Winter Festival of Lights, on Friday and Saturday nights from 14 November 2026.
Three falls in one frame
The tower is 520 feet tall from its base, but the base itself sits high above the river, so Skylon measures its deck at 775 feet above the Niagara Gorge. From there the three falls line up in a single view. Skylon puts clear-day visibility at up to 125 km, which on a good afternoon takes in the Toronto skyline across Lake Ontario and Buffalo to the south.
There are two levels at the top. The indoor deck sits behind tall slanted windows, and it’s the part of the top a wheelchair user can reach. The outdoor deck wraps all the way around the tower, three steps up from inside, and it’s where you’ll get photos without reflections in the glass, especially after dark. Skylon warns that it’s windy up there, so bring a layer even on a mild evening.
You go up in one of the “Yellow Bug” elevators, glass-fronted cabins that climb the outside of the tower in 52 seconds. There are three of them and all three ride on exterior rails, so if you’re uneasy with heights, know that the drop is on show the whole way.
Skylon was completed in 1965, eleven years before the CN Tower in Toronto, and the saucer at the top holds the decks and both restaurants.
Choosing a ticket: one ride, two rides or a combo
| Ticket, bought online | Adult 13+ | Child 4-12 | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ride to the Top | C$18 | C$9 | One trip up, indoor and outdoor decks |
| Day & Night Pass | C$22 | C$11 | Two trips up within 24 hours |
| Ride to the Top & Daredevil Barrels | C$22 | C$11 | The decks plus the barrel exhibit on the main level |
| Ultimate Combo | C$26 | C$13 | Day & Night Pass plus the 3D/4D film Legends of Niagara Falls |
Prices are from Skylon’s ticket page and its online shop on 3 October 2026, in Canadian dollars, with taxes added at checkout; children under 4 go free. Skylon says buying online costs less than paying at the door. Its shop shows a struck-through C$20 next to the adult C$18 and C$10 next to the child C$9, so if those are the counter prices, buying on your phone saves C$2 per adult and C$1 per child.
Tickets bought on skylon.com are valid for a year and come with free cancellation.
The Day & Night Pass carries Skylon’s “Visitor Favourite” tag, and at C$4 more it’s the obvious pick if you’re sleeping within walking distance: go up in daylight, then come back after dinner for the lights. It makes less sense on a day trip from Toronto with a train to catch. In October a single C$18 ticket timed for when the falls lights switch on, at 6:15 pm until 15 October and at 6 pm after that, catches the daylight going as well: the sun sets at 6:52 pm on 4 October and 6:09 pm on 31 October.
The barrel exhibit costs C$5 on its own, so the Daredevil combo saves you a dollar; it’s a room of homemade barrels and the stories of people who rode them over the falls, some of whom lived. The Ultimate Combo adds the 3D/4D film to a Day & Night Pass for another C$4, which suits a family filling a rainy hour more than anyone with a tight evening; Skylon’s shop notes that in winter the film plays only on Saturdays and Sundays, 10 am to 8 pm.
Daylight, dusk or after dark
Daylight is for the geography: the boats nosing up to the foot of the Horseshoe, the Rainbow Bridge and the gorge bending away north. Fog is the enemy. On a foggy day the top of the tower can disappear completely, as in the photo below, and Skylon’s 125 km is a clear-day figure. An online ticket is valid for a year, so wait for a clear spell instead of riding up into the murk.
After dark the falls are floodlit every evening from dusk, a job the Niagara Falls Illumination Board has done since 1925. On the Niagara Parks schedule the lights come on at 6:15 pm from 1 to 15 October, at 6 pm from 16 October and at 4:30 pm from November to the end of December, and they stay on until 2 am. With the deck open until 11 pm on weeknights, by the hours posted on 3 October 2026, you’ve got hours of illuminated falls to work with.
Fireworks go up over the falls at 10 pm every night from 15 May to 12 October 2026 and last about five minutes; after that, the Winter Festival of Lights (14 November 2026 to 10 January 2027) brings them back on Friday and Saturday nights at 8 pm through November and December. The show itself is free to watch from the park below, and a deck ticket only changes where you stand.
Dinner as the ticket: Revolving Dining Room or buffet
Both restaurants include the ride and the decks, which is the line Skylon leads with, but the small print matters: the dining room’s menus say each guest has to buy a main course to get the free ride, and parking is still charged when you eat.
The Revolving Dining Room turns a full circle every hour, so a dinner of an hour or more shows you the falls, the city and the river at least once. Lunch runs 11:30 am to 3 pm. A three-course early dinner at C$65 per adult is served only at the 4:30 and 5 pm seatings, and regular dinner runs 6 to 10 pm, with main courses from C$52 to C$80 on the menu we read. There’s a minimum charge of C$44 per guest at lunch and C$52 at dinner, children 12 and under have their own C$26 menu, and every price is before HST and a 3% “Attractions and Promotional Fee”. Parties of eight or more pay an automatic 18% gratuity. Dress is your call: Skylon says guests turn up both casual and formal.
For two adults, the deck alone comes to C$36. The early dinner is C$130 before tax and the fee, so the food costs you about C$94 more than the view would. That’s fair if you’d have booked a sit-down dinner somewhere anyway, and an expensive elevator ride if you wouldn’t.
On a fireworks night, Skylon suggests booking around 8 to 8:30 pm and heading up to the deck for 10, because a revolving table may be facing away from the falls when the show starts. That holds until 12 October 2026; the next fireworks come with the Winter Festival of Lights, on Friday and Saturday nights from 14 November 2026.
The Summit Suite Buffet doesn’t revolve, but every seat is on the falls side. It’s seasonal: Skylon gives the season as late May to late October and says the dates change from year to year, so check Skylon’s contact page or call ahead before you count on it in late October 2026. Lunch is C$45 at 11:30 am, 1 pm and 2:30 pm; dinner is C$65, or C$55 at the 5 and 5:30 pm early seatings; children 12 and under pay C$26, and HST and the same 3% fee apply. Against a C$18 deck ticket, the buffet lunch costs C$27 more than the ride alone, for a hot lunch with the Horseshoe in the window.
Getting there, parking and the last bus
Skylon is at 5200 Robinson Street, on the high ground above the falls. It’s a little over a kilometre on foot between the tower and Table Rock at the brink: downhill to the falls, uphill on the way back.
Drivers get two lots: Lot A in front of the entrance and Lot B, metered when no attendant is on duty and not patrolled. Skylon sets the rates by season, lower in winter and higher on holiday weekends, without printing them, and diners pay too. You also lose your spot when you leave, since neither lot offers in-and-out privileges, so a Day & Night Pass by car means paying for parking twice. That’s the strongest case for a walkable hotel; the where to stay in Niagara Falls page compares the districts.
Without a car, the WEGO Blue Line stops at “Skylon Tower/Wyndham”. On the autumn timetable that took over on 4 October 2026, buses come every 30 minutes and the last loop of the day leaves at 9 pm through October, then at 7:45 pm from 1 November. If you’re staying up top for the lights or a late dinner, plan on walking or a taxi back. A 24-hour WEGO pass was C$16 per adult, tax included, on Niagara Parks’ fare table in October 2026. From Toronto, our Niagara day-trip guide compares the train, coaches and driving.
Skylon, the SkyWheel or the CN Tower?
The Niagara SkyWheel on Clifton Hill lifts you, by its operator’s figure, 175 feet above the falls, in a heated and air-conditioned gondola that’s yours alone for an 8 to 12 minute ride. It’s lower than Skylon, but it suits a group wanting its own cabin on a cold night. On 3 October 2026 Clifton Hill’s SkyWheel page priced a ride at C$15 per adult plus HST (C$7 for children 3 to 12), C$3 under Skylon’s online adult ticket, and the wheel is also one of six attractions in Clifton Hill’s Fun Pass at C$34.95 per adult plus tax.
Toronto’s CN Tower charged C$47 for an adult (14 to 64) timed general admission, before tax, when we checked the same day, for a main deck 346 m up. It’s taller and pricier, and its view is the city and Lake Ontario, so if your trip covers both places, one doesn’t stand in for the other. Our CN Tower ticket guide covers that one.
The free option is the brink itself: Table Rock and the promenade through Queen Victoria Park, covered in our Niagara Falls Canada guide. The Niagara Parks passes cover the parks’ own attractions, Journey Behind the Falls and the gorge sites among them, while Skylon sells its own ticket; our Niagara Falls pass breakdown prices each tier against the singles. For the ride into the mist, see the Niagara Falls boat tour guide.
Planning the evening ride by date
Until 12 October 2026: lights, then fireworks. The floodlights come on at 6:15 pm while it’s still light, and the fireworks follow at 10 pm. That gap is what the Day & Night Pass is for: ride up for the sunset, come back for the show, all for C$4 more than a single ticket. From 4 October the last Blue Line bus calls at the Skylon stop at 9:35 pm on the printed timetable, before the fireworks start, so you’ll be walking or taking a taxi back.
13 to 31 October: lights only. The scheduled fireworks take a break until 14 November, so one C$18 ticket timed for dusk does the job. From 16 October the lights come on at 6 pm, ahead of a sunset that slips from 6:33 pm on 15 October to 6:09 pm on 31 October, so go up for 6 pm and stay out on the deck until it’s dark. If you’re eating upstairs, take the C$65 early dinner at 4:30 or 5 pm and go up to the deck afterwards.
November and December: early dusk, weekend fireworks. The lights come on at 4:30 pm and the sun goes down soon after, at 5:08 pm on 1 November, 4:52 pm on 15 November and 4:43 pm on 30 November, so the daylight has gone well before regular dinner starts at 6 pm. From 14 November 2026 the Winter Festival of Lights adds fireworks on Friday and Saturday nights at 8 pm; the full 2026-27 dates weren’t out on 3 October, and in the 2025-26 season Niagara Parks also ran them nightly from 25 December 2025 until the festival closed. The last Blue Line loop starts at 7:45 pm and reaches the Skylon stop at 8:25 pm on the printed timetable, which leaves about 20 minutes to get down after the five-minute show.
From January. The festival closes on 10 January 2027, and after that it’s the deck and the floodlit falls, lit from dusk every evening, in a tower that stays open all year.
