Montreal to Mont-Tremblant: 125 km, 90 Min, Shuttle C$95

Montreal to Mont-Tremblant is 125 kilometres and about 90 minutes by car on a good day. The resort publishes that figure from downtown Montreal to 1000 Chemin des Voyageurs, the pedestrian village at the hill. Without a car you are looking at seasonal shuttles: a winter ski bus from Montréal-Trudeau (YUL) from C$95 one-way, a summer Getaway bus on weekends from June to October, or a train-plus-bus chain through Saint-Jérôme on L’Inter for C$6 on the last leg. Friday outbound traffic on Autoroute 15 can turn 90 minutes into two hours, and winter shuttles sell out on holiday weekends if you wait until Thursday night. Book ski-season seats when you book lodging, not at the airport curb.

Driving: Autoroute 15 and Route 117

The resort’s routing is blunt: Autoroute 15 north, then Route 117 into the Laurentians. GPS the full address, because “Mont-Tremblant” on a booking site can drop you in downtown Saint-Jovite, about 12 km by road from the gondola.

A rental makes sense when you’re carrying skis, a cooler and three passengers. Compare pickup at YUL against downtown Montreal if you’re flying in - the airport-to-city hop is its own decision in Montreal airport to downtown. Winter driving means Quebec’s winter-tire rule and slower climbing on 117 when it’s snowing; summer means construction zones and Quebec licence plates doing exactly the speed limit.

Parking at the resort is edge-of-village, not beside the lift. If your hotel isn’t inside the pedestrian zone, you’ll use the free resort shuttle or the municipal bus loop - the village guide in Mont-Tremblant explains which pin you booked.

Snow tires are mandatory from 1 December to 15 March on every vehicle registered in Quebec, rentals included. The law follows registration rather than where you happen to be driving, so an Ontario or US plate is not breaking it - but all-season rubber on route 117 after a storm is still the wrong call, and insurers read the same rule after a slide-off.

YUL shuttle: the ski-season link

From 17 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, Keolis Skyport runs a direct coach between Montréal-Trudeau and the Tremblant resort under the Orléans Express brand. It operates Thursday through Sunday only: one round trip on Thursday and Friday, two on Saturday and Sunday.

The published fares are C$95 one-way / C$161 round-trip for adults 14-64, and C$66 / C$117 for children 0-13 and seniors 65+, plus taxes. That’s the operator table on tremblant.ca, not a guess from a fare aggregator.

Typical winter departures from YUL (Gate 26, international arrivals area on the English page) are 9:30 and 15:00 on heavy days, with resort arrival at Sommet des Neiges around 11:30 and 17:00. Return coaches leave the village early afternoon and early evening. The schedule shifts by day - pull the live calendar for your weekend, don’t copy a screenshot from last February.

Two practical details matter for planners. You can connect from another Orléans Express coach at YUL even without a flight ticket, which opens the shuttle to Montreal residents heading to the airport. Each ticket includes two bags under 23 kg plus a small carry-on; ski bags ride in the hold and should be declared at booking.

This is not a turn-up-and-go airport bus. Tremblant asks for reservations at least 24 hours ahead, and holiday weekends fill. If you’re landing Friday at 20:00, you’re not on the 9:30 Saturday coach unless you booked it before you flew.

Getaway shuttle: summer weekends only

When the hill is green, Tremblant runs a different product. The Getaway Shuttle links Montreal Bus Terminal to the resort on Saturdays and Sundays through the warm months - in 2026 that was 27 June to 11 October - with arrival around 10:00; out of season the bus and the car are the only ways. Stops include Sentier des Cimes Laurentides and, on Saturdays only, the Lac Monroe sector of Mont-Tremblant National Park.

That’s a tourism shuttle, not a commuter line. Site admission isn’t included, and the national park is a separate ticket from the resort gondola. It’s ideal for a car-free weekend if you’re staying in the village and don’t need a 06:00 Monday return.

The resort does not publish a 2026 seat price in advance - buy through Tremblant’s booking platform or the Getaway partner listed there and treat any fare you see elsewhere as unverified.

Saint-Jérôme and L’Inter: the year-round bus leg

Autobus Galland runs the year-round direct coach on its Montreal-Mont-Laurier line: 07:30 and 14:30 daily from the Gare d’autocars de Montreal, 1717 rue Berri, into Mont-Tremblant (Shell, 231 rue de Saint-Jovite) - roughly three hours, with returns in the morning and early evening. Check the current sheet on galland-bus.com before you build a day around it. Note where that puts you - Saint-Jovite downtown, not the pedestrian village, same as L’Inter. The cheaper year-round option is two legs: exo commuter rail to Saint-Jérôme, then L’Inter route Saint-Jérôme/Mont-Tremblant.

L’Inter’s simplified schedule from 3 August 2026 shows multiple weekday and weekend departures between 280 rue Latour (the intermodal station) and stops in Saint-Jovite and the Tremblant area. The cash fare is C$6 exact change per ride; children 11 and under ride free. A 10-ride pass is C$40 if you’re commuting all month.

You’ll still pay exo and STM to reach Saint-Jérôme - those fares live on exo.quebec and change with zones. TACL’s July 2026 timetable refresh specifically tightened connections with exo trains; match your train arrival to the bus column rather than assuming a 15-minute buffer.

Once you’re in the valley, Ville de Mont-Tremblant runs a free municipal loop between downtown, Lac Mercier and the resort. Tremblant’s own lodging shuttles cover hotel-to-village hops. None of that replaces planning the Montreal-to-valley leg first.

Which pin you are reaching

“Mont-Tremblant” on a map is three places. The pedestrian village at Chemin des Voyageurs is where the shuttles aim. Saint-Jovite is the town with groceries and city hall. Lac Mercier is the old village strip on the lake. Buses and shuttles don’t treat them as interchangeable.

If you’re comparing hills for a ski week, skiing in Canada puts Tremblant’s eastern snow in context against Banff and Whistler. For another Parks Canada landscape on the same Montreal-Quebec City corridor, La Mauricie National Park is the Parkway-and-lakes counterpoint to a resort weekend. North of Quebec City, the Saguenay Fjord is a multi-day cliff-and-ferry trip, not a Tremblant day extension. For a longer French-speaking city after the slopes, Montreal and Quebec City sit on the same province map - Tremblant is a weekend, not a substitute for either city.

Picking the mode

Drive if you’re hauling gear for four people, need Saint-Jovite supermarkets, or want Lac Monroe on your own schedule. YUL shuttle if you’re flying in for a ski long weekend and can align with Thu-Sun departures - book early. Getaway for a summer Saturday when you’d rather leave the car in Montreal. exo + L’Inter if you’re budget-conscious, travelling midweek, and don’t mind the transfer at Saint-Jérôme.

Whichever you choose, confirm the 2026 date on the operator site the week you travel. Shuttle seasons start and stop on calendar dates, and the winter YUL product doesn’t run in July any more than the Getaway runs in January.
